Perfect for beginners - Trevassack Lake

If you're new to paddleboarding or would simply prefer calm, flat water, Trevassack Lake is hard to beat. The freshwater lake offers a safe environment for building confidence, with equipment hire, self-launch facilities and private lessons all available. It's also fully lifeguarded, making it an excellent choice for families or anyone wanting to learn. Whether you're hiring a board for the first time or bringing your own, it's an easy and enjoyable place to spend a few hours on the water.

Best for: Beginners, families and improving confidence.

Our favourite for a relaxed paddle - Coverack Harbour

If we only had time for one paddleboarding trip, this would probably be it. Coverack's large, sheltered bay offers plenty of space to explore while still feeling safe and protected. It's perfect for leisurely paddles along the shoreline, with beautifully clear water and wonderful views back towards the village. We usually launch directly from the beach, although it's also possible to launch from the harbour jetty for a small fee.

Best for: Relaxed paddles, calm conditions and all abilities.

Best for exploring - The Helford River

The Helford River offers a completely different experience to the open coast. Sheltered creeks, peaceful wooded banks and hidden inlets make it one of Cornwall's most beautiful places to explore by paddleboard.

There are several launch points depending on your confidence and the route you'd like to paddle, so it's worth planning your trip before setting out.

Best for: Exploring, wildlife and longer paddles.​
